Harsco Rail, a division of Harsco Corporation, is committed to the safety of our employees and compliance with applicable statutes, regulations and ordinances throughout our worldwide operations. Based on proven beliefs and principles, our safety program empowers the organization and individuals to achieve the highest level of performance. Our guiding policy is:

  • All injuries and occupational illnesses are preventable
    Harsco Rail business operations will strive for an injury free workplace; will never be satisfied when injuries occur, and will take the required action to prevent them.
  • All construction and operating exposures can be reasonably safeguarded
    For all jobs in which there may be a significant safety hazard, management will conduct risk analyses, determine safe work practices, develop safe operating procedures, and take necessary actions to minimize risk to workers. Harsco Rail will not undertake jobs that cannot be done safely.
  • Safety is equal to cost, quality and productivity
    Harsco daily business decisions will give safety equal consideration to other business criteria. Safety will never be compromised in order to meet productivity deadlines or other business demands.
  • Working safely is an essential element of employee performance
    All Harsco Rail employees have a responsibility to work safely, report injuries immediately, and participate in accident and incident investigations. Individuals will be held accountable to see that their actions do not cause injury to themselves, their co-workers or the general public.
  • Safety is a line management responsibility
    All Harsco Rail managers and supervisors are responsible and will be held accountable to provide a safe and orderly working environment for their employees.
  • Line management has a responsibility to train all employees to work safely
    Harsco Rail employees will be trained in proper safety methods. Managers will reinforce training by routinely observing employee work habits.
  • Safety adds value for customers, stockholders and employees
    Harsco Rail will achieve and maintain a level of safety performance that promotes a positive work environment, minimizes risk to our employees, supports our relationship with our customers, and maximizes value to Harsco Corporation shareholders.
