HR4000 Series B1 HY-RAIL® Guide Wheel Equipment

Harsco Rail's HR4000 Series B HY-RAIL® guide wheel attachment is used to adapt heavy-duty, chassis-cab trucks, meeting Harsco Rail's recommended vehicle specifications, for highway and railway applications where a vertically-actuating rear unit is desired. This unit is ideal for applications where other equipment must also be mounted on the rear of the vehicle.

The HR4000B units are for rear position installation and may be used in conjunction with other Harsco Rail front units.

The unit is lowered and raised vertically with a hydraulically-actuated "scissors" type mechanism. Dual control valves provide independent control of each side of the unit to make placement of the guide wheels in the rail position easier.

The unit bolts directly to the vehicle's frame rails and features height-adjustable mounting. Available in insulated and non-insulated versions. Also available are optional air-actuated, tread-type brakes with composition shoes and optional fixed rail sweeps. An electric air compressor and a hydraulic power unit are available for installation on vehicles not equipped with air brakes or hydraulic systems.

Major Features

  • Vertically-actuating unit can be fitted into applications where other equipment must also be mounted at the rear of the vehicle.
  • Dual control valves provide independent lowering of each side of the unit. This gives the unit "side shift" capabilities resulting in easier alignment of the vehicle with the rails when placing the vehicle "on-rail".
  • Positive safety pin locks for rail and highway position. Three options are available: manual pin, manual pin with cable control and air actuated pin.
  • Unit bolts directly to the vehicle frame rails. Slotted mounting holes enable precise and easy adjustment for vehicle load, clearances, and tracking.
