Top Gun 2000™ Spike Driver W96 Series E3-27/28

Top Gun 2000™ Spike Driver W96 Series E3-27/28

The W96 Series E3 TOP GUN 2000™ Spike Driver will set and drive spikes on both sides of each rail. A Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) controls major machine functions; drivers, spike feeds, nipper and gauger. The PLC program determines when the machine functions will be performed through analog position sensors (string pot type or linear rod type). The PLC can be easily programmed to change the machine function to suit the operator's preference and/or varying track conditions. The PLC program also has incorporated machine system interlocks and safety disables for operator safety.

Dual operator controls allow either operator to propel and/or brake. A third person loads spikes for both operators. The machine is equipped with four spike drivers. The spike drivers use reciprocating impact for spiking. The in-line spike feed readily accepts 5/8 inch (15.88 mm) spikes. The spike deck provides ample storage space for carrying spikes. The Top Gun 2000 can be equipped with an optional winch to lift spike kegs up onto the spike deck. A bulk spike handling feature is available.

The machine can be equipped with an optional tie nipper to grasp and pull the tie and tie plates up tight against the bottom of the rails for spiking.

The unit can be equipped with an optional Auto Gauger. The Auto Gauger consists of a gauge sensor carriage to measure the track gauge and a gauger mechanism to move the rails to the track gauge. The gauger mechanism is a floating beam type incorporating four rolling jaws that exert force on the rail web near the base, to minimize tipping the rail.

The Top Gun 2000 Spike Driver can also be fitted with the optional turntable to lift and turn the machine around on the track.
